Katahdin Hair Sheep
We have tried Shetland and Icelandic sheep before. The shearing was more difficult than anticipated. Getting the fleece off in one, usable piece just wasn’t working for us. We found that we didn’t use the fleece for more than stuffing dog beds, in the end. Lots of work for low/no significant reward or utility. That’s when we started researching HAIR sheep that don’t require shearing.
We have a Registered Katahdin Ram and Ewe, plus four 50% ewe lambs added in 2020.
We will be retaining our 2021 stock for meat and breeding, but may have a few lambs for sale early on bottles if we have triplets.
